NO NONSENSE: SHIMANO 105
The new SHIMANO 105 features many of the technological improvements of the new DURA-ACE and ULTEGRA components, at a very attractive price thanks to the use of more economical materials and solutions. No titanium sprockets, carbon brake levers or HOLLOWGLIDE outer chain ring for example.

Let’s face it, SHIMANO 105 does not have the state-of-the-art image of DURA-ACE, but if you are interested in the best price/performance ratio this might be the perfect component group for you. For the average sporty rider the differences will be hard to notice. What you do get is a very reliable, durable and excellent performing component group with an attractive design – in a silver and black version – at an affordable price.

Dual Control Levers
SHIMANO 105 Dual Control Levers ST-5700 (for Double and Compact cranksets) and ST-5703 (for Triple cranksets) feature cable routing underneath the handlebar tape, just like the new DURA-ACE and ULTEGRA. They have been developed with a reach adjustment mechanism that will accommodate smaller hands and a wide assortment of bar bends. The brake lever pivot is located closer to the rider for an improved controllability, especially when riding with the hands on top of the hoods.

Cranksets (Double, Compact & Triple)
The HOLLOWTECH II crankset combines an attractive aerodynamic design with superb rigidity. Available in three versions: Double (FC-5700: 52-39T, 53-39T), Compact (FC-5750: 50-34T) and Triple (FC-5703: 50-39-30T).

Derailleurs
Rear derailleur RD-5700 will be available in two versions: SS (with a short cage) and GS (with a medium cage). The short cage version has a wide gear ratio with a maximum front difference of 16T and a total capacity of 33T. This means that it is compatible with SHIMANO compact cranksets (50-34T) and cassette sprockets of maximum 28T. The GS version is needed when using a Triple crankset.

Shimano offers also two front derailleur options: FD-5700 for Double and Compact cranksets and FD-5703 for Triple cranksets. They feature a wide inner link for extra rigidity and an improved chain guide design. The new front derailleurs provide a feather light down shift and smoother shifting stroke.

Brakes
The Dual-Pivot caliper brakes feature new compound brake shoes that offer a much improved brake performance, especially in wet conditions. The calipers have been developed with an enhanced brake arch proportion for an increased linear response. The brakes feature a spring tension adjuster and adjustable toe-in brake shoes.

Cassettes/Chain/Hubs/Pedals
The new SHIMANO 105 HYPERGLIDE 10-speed cassette will be available in a wide variation of combinations: 11-28T, 11-25T, 12-25T and 12-27T. The new chain has a directional design (one way mounting) with special shaped links to further improve shifting performance. The group also includes hubs and SPD-SL pedals in a matching color.

New SHIMANO 105 offers the ultimate combination of performance, durability, design and price for the no nonsense sporty road racer who wants to improve his performance and have fun at the same time.
